With several elections on the way, it is normal to see different candidates trying to appeal to their voters in whichever way possible. Sadly, it seems that some of these people tend to miss the mark when it comes to uploading some videos, as some of them can feel out of touch. One of these examples comes from Reid Rasner in Wyoming, who is currently running for the House of Representatives. However, he recently uploaded a video gearing up to “ban Sharia Law,” and it seems the clip didn’t land well with some viewers.
The video, which came from Reid Rasner’s Instagram account and has now been posted on several subreddits, including the one in Wyoming, shows the candidate gearing up on his way to “Ban Sharia Law,” as the video’s caption says.
In the video, you can see Rasner putting on what appears to be a bulletproof vest, some sunglasses, and finishing with a MAGA hat before walking away. Now, while the video ends here without anything else, there’s a continuation on his Instagram account, which we’ll link here.
In that second clip, he arrives at what he claims is the largest Islamic Center in the US and spits as he looks at it, spits on the ground, says that the building is “worse” than Obama, and then claims they will get rid of it. He then mentions that they will get rid of Sharia Law permanently. Lastly, he tells viewers to let him know in the comments what to do with the building and asks them to vote for him.
As you can imagine, those who commented on his videos didn’t offer words of encouragement; instead, they criticized him, as many saw both clips as tasteless.
Wyoming Redditors Fire Back at Rasner
Several Wyoming Redditors took it to the comments to criticize the videos, claiming that what he did was tasteless and just looked bad.
“This guy is absolutely insufferable.”
“Typical MAGA cult. Always the victim of some booogieman.”
Others, however, think this might have been a satire or a bit for social media, as some find the video extremely hard to believe.
“You’ll have a hard time convincing me that this wasn’t satire.”
“You are joking, right?”
In the end, according to comments on Reddit and Instagram, it seems this campaign stunt backfired, and many people in and outside of Wyoming are now criticizing the candidate.
