A woman in California was trapped at a traffic light after two Waymos glitched out and stopped in their tracks. According to her, she ended up waiting in her car for almost an hour, and she even called 911 while she remained stuck.

Emily Offenkrantz shared her Waymo misadventure on TikTok. She is a popular content creator who shares skits, rants, and the occasional song. The clip shown above, however, went viral in record time, garnering 3.2 million views, 409,900 likes, and close to 3,500 comments.

The California woman began recording herself inside her vehicle while waiting at a traffic light. She detailed that she had just called 911 because she had been stuck for about 50 minutes. The reason? Two Waymos, stuck a bit close to each other, were preventing her from moving forward.

“I don’t know what else to do because I have a line of cars behind me,” she said. “There’s like thousands of cars here, and I can’t move.”

Emily showed the white self-driving vehicles. While running, they weren’t moving an inch and had remained still for about 10 light cycles.

Apparently, during her 911 call, she was told that an officer was on the way. She wondered how the situation would work out, though, asking, “Is the officer gonna argue with a ghost?” adding, “There’s no one in the car!“

During a green light, one of the Waymos started to reverse. Emily freaked out, of course, and even honked her horn. And while there was no one to hear her horn, the car stopped. Then, it continued backing up, almost hitting another car.

Eventually, a lady helped the California woman by directing her to squeeze between the two Waymos. Fortunately for her, the AI-powered cars didn’t move while she made her escape.

Fed Up With Waymos

Some viewers, possibly fed up with similar incidents, wanted to see Waymo accountable. One viewer commented, “Waymo should be fined $10k per traffic violation.” Another one said, “Waymo should be banned.”

Others, meanwhile, quipped, given the absurdity of Emily’s predicament. One person wrote, “You have been waiting waymo time than necessary.” Finally, some people believed she could’ve easily driven between the Waymos, with one commenting, “You can definitely maneuver out of that situation.”

In a follow-up, Emily clarified that there was, in fact, no space for her to squeeze between the cars. On top of it, the line of cars behind her was due to a concert, she explained.
