Texas State Rep. James Talarico posted a video on X calling on Texans to unite behind a Democratic Senate candidate to end 30 years of one-party rule and elect a senator who serves the people rather than billionaire donors. The clip, which features campaign rally footage, has drawn strong reactions online. Many users pushed back against the message, with replies dismissing the effort as unrealistic and directing personal criticism at Talarico.

There is something happening in Texas.

We are uniting Texans on one team to take back our state and take back our country.

In the video, Talarico addresses supporters at a campaign rally, stating there is “something happening in the great state of Texas” and “something in the air.” He declares that Texans are uniting “to take on this broken, corrupt political system” and “end 30 years of one-party rule in this state” by electing a senator who will serve the people.

Talarico frames the effort as both a political and spiritual battle, referencing the Gospel of Matthew and contrasting rulers who “lord their power over the people” with the idea that “the greatest among you will be a servant.” He describes the movement as a fight between selfishness and service, and between greed and greatness.

Online Reactions to Talarico’s Senate Campaign Video

Commenters expressed strong opposition to the message. One replied, “You’ve lost your damn mind. Not happening!” Another wrote, “Take back your state?  Not gonna happen, soy boy. Texas is our state.”

Several responses focused on personal attacks and policy differences. “Talarico is a gay moron,” one user stated, while another said, “Texans Love America, which is why they will not elect a vegan socialist Democrat with a pretend girlfriend! Vote @KenPaxtonTX.”

One commenter also questioned, “What Experience Did Your Father Have When He Was Appointed?”

Another criticized Talarico’s religious references, writing, “Of course, a leftist atheist loves woke weird Talarico supporting his pro-abortion and trans insanity positions with heresy. It guts Christianity. Talarico is the hypocrite, though; he is abusing scripture to push his political agenda…”

Additional replies highlighted skepticism about the campaign’s chances. “What’s happening in Texas is the same as what happened 4 years ago. Democrats will spend tens of millions of dollars on a loser. And that’s ok. We appreciate your money. You can go home now,” one commenter noted.

The video has become part of the broader online conversation surrounding the Texas Senate race. As reactions continue on X, the clip underscores the deep divisions over efforts to challenge the state’s long-standing one-party dominance.
