The New York Knicks have ended the playoffs having defeated the San Antonio Spurs to win the 2026 NBA Championship. To celebrate, people have been going out into the streets, essentially partying, though Vince Langman severely misidentified one person as Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

Commenters were quick to realize the mistake made, with many pointing out that Langman is “just another racist idiot.” The person in the video was properly identified as a comedian with no ties to the mayor.

The video above appears to have been taken during a celebration out on the streets of New York City. You can clearly see a man who does appear to look like Zohran Mamdani, though clearly isn’t, dancing and singing on a podium with another woman.

At no point does the man say that he is Mamdani, though the caption to video itself reads, “While street thugs were destroying police cars, burning school buses, and smashing windows on businesses, the Communist mayor in charge of law and order in the City of New York was in the middle of the mob, acting like a college kid who had his first beer at a frat party!“

Just below the video, additional context was added by members of the community, resulting in a statement that reads, “The man in this video is not Mayor Zohran Mamdani. It is comedian Amadeo Fusca.“

When tracing back the video to Fusca’s page, he is well-known for cosplaying as the mayor and creating content as such. However, the profile itself clearly states the name of the comedian as well as the fact that the resemblance is meant to be a joke.

Commenters were also quick to make note of the incorrect information, with one person who commented with, “That’s not even Mamdani! , that is comedian Amadeo Fusca,” being the reason for the community note.

A majority of other comments screenshot the community note and directed their frustrations at Langman for the false information. The top comment that relates to this states, “just another racist idiot,” alongside an image of the note.

Unfortunately, there are also comments by those who believe the video features Mamdani, spreading misinformation. One reply describes this in reading, “That is not Mamdani and you Trump supporters dangerously spreading FAKE NEWS on behalf of Trump regime, Israel and Russia to divide Americans, you chronically online ragebaiting MAGA [expletive] POS!“

The video is still gaining significant attention online, though Amadeo Fusca and Zohran Mamdani have not commented on it.
