Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington posted on X about a federal judge’s ruling that the Trump administration’s freeze on processing immigration applications from 39 countries is illegal. According to the post, the judge ordered that processing must restart immediately. The message, which described the decision as “some good news for a change,” has drawn widespread attention online, with many users reacting strongly to Jayapal’s comments.

Some good news for a change! A judge ruled that Trump’s freeze on processing immigration applications for 39 countries is illegal and that processing must restart immediately.

Pramila Jayapal posted a video on X from her account @RepJayapal on June 21, 2026. In the clip, she shares what she called important news about a recent federal court decision on immigration processing.

The video shows Jayapal seated in an office with U.S. and Washington state flags behind her as she speaks directly to the camera. She states, “I’ve got some really important, good news to share.” She explains that last November the Trump administration suspended processing for applicants from “39 different countries across Latin America” and other regions who “had all paid substantial fees for the government to decide their case.”

According to Jayapal in the video, “just last week, a federal judge ruled that that was unlawful.” She says the ruling requires returning to the practice of treating all nationalities equally “and granting all the applications that meet federal requirements,” rather than discriminating on the basis of national origin. The footage does not include the full court document or any response from the Trump administration or USCIS.

Public Debate Ignited by the Federal Judge’s Decision

Some commenters connected the ruling to other immigration-related concerns in Washington state. One commenter wrote, “‘Good news’? @RepJayapal celebrates a judge forcing a restart of immigration app processing from 39 countries, while VAWA fraud machines like the Tukwila ‘Lawyer of Miracles’ just collapsed after stealing $55M+.”

Another stated, “Judge has ZERO jurisdiction on immigration matters. A real American politician would understand that. Still, in this case, you just prove the reason no foreign-born should ever hold office in America because you cannot put American interests before foreign.”

Additional responses focused on the judge’s authority and outcomes. A commenter said, “None of them have to be approved, you clown. No judge can force the State Department to issue a visa. So now let’s REJECT all of the applications.”

Others noted, “Clinton and Obamas made the laws Trump is following. What exactly are you fighting for illegal immigration?” and “How does a judge get to decide who we process? It is a privilege to come into this country; it isn’t a right.” Some called for ignoring the ruling in favor of stricter enforcement.

The post has become part of the ongoing online conversation about immigration policy and judicial decisions. Discussions around the ruling and its implications continue across platforms.
