Massive Blizzard Roadmap Leak Points to New Warcraft RTS, Arthas RPG, and More

Darksiders-like RPG starring Arthas would be cool, not gonna lie

More than two decades after Activision Blizzard put the series on ice, thanks to the MMO’s success, Warcraft may finally be returning to its RTS roots. An alleged roadmap leak points to a project called ‘Warcraft Chronicles RTS’ alongside an Arthas-focused action RPG. It also listed several other spin-offs, including an animated series and another live-action project.

The leaked roadmap, titled ‘Franchise Slate – World of Warcraft,’ was actually first posted on Reddit on August 9, 2025. Not long afterward, however, the original poster nuked both the thread and their account for unknown reasons. For months, the photo was largely forgotten — but that changed recently.

Fans realized that one of the roadmap’s biggest mysteries — ‘Camelot’ — matches the same codename discovered in Battle.net launcher files. This is believed to be the long-rumored Classic+ project, as dataminers found references to Heroic and Epic editions of something called World of Warcraft: Camelot. What’s more, the roadmap’s timeline also fits with all of World of Warcraft‘s latest expansions’ release dates so far:

  • The War Within (11.0): Q3 2024, expansion was released in August 2024.
  • Midnight (12.0): Q1 2026, expansion was released in March 2026.
  • Era/Camelot – Camelot: Q3 2026.
  • Classic/Camelot The Wrath of the Lich King: Q4 2026.
  • Classic Fresh: Q2 2028.
  • The Last Titan (13.0): Q3 2027.
  • Warcraft Chronicles RTS: Q3 2028.
  • Anime Series: Q3 2028.
  • Arthas ARPG: Q4 2029.
  • Live-Action Series: Q4 2029.

In case you forgot, to celebrate the series’s 30th anniversary, Blizzard released Warcraft I and Warcraft II: Remastered back in November 2024. Looking back, this move could also be read as the company gauging interest for a new RTS game.

The leak also comes amid renewed speculation about the future of Blizzard’s other beloved classic RTS series, Starcraft. Earlier this year, Korean media reported that Nexon was developing a shooter based on Starcraft through the same team behind The First Descendant. However, as the leaked roadmap is focused on the Warcraft franchise, so far, there’s no continuation to this report.

Still, even if the roadmap was genuine at the time it was made, it’s unclear how many of these projects survived. After all, there have been sweeping strategic changes following Xbox CEO Asha Sharma’s restructuring efforts. Industry reports even pointed out that another major round of layoffs is planned for next month. With that in mind, Blizzard’s long-term plan for a new entry to the Warcraft RTS series and an ARPG spin-off may look very different today.
