There have been many fast-food establishments in the country, but among the most famous and, in many ways, controversial is Hooters. Yet, it seems this restaurant chain is hanging up its wings because it is closing down many of its establishments, mainly in Massachusetts, where it has now officially disappeared. Despite how famous it was at a time, it seems those in Massachusetts had forgotten about it, even wondering if there were still any open at all.
A WCVB5 report, which made its way to the Massachusetts subreddit, claims that all Hooters locations in the state have now closed. People found a few messages outside establishments thanking former patrons for their patronage and memories. Now, while this may seem shocking, the truth is that many saw it coming: the brand had been struggling since 2025 and had shown signs of a comeback earlier this year. Yet, the closing of so many franchises in a state doesn’t bode well for Hooters.
Oddly enough, this news didn’t shock many former customers. While some do mourn the closure of these locations, a few others didn’t even know these establishments were still open, at least in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts Residents Bid Farewell to Hooters
When the news reached the state’s subreddit, it brought mixed reactions, with a few saying goodbye to these locations while others were confused that they still existed in the state.

Despite many Redditors claiming this wasn’t shocking news and that it was bound to happen eventually, a few others showed more empathy, as they claim these establishments were nice to customers, especially during sports events.
“When I was still actually watching UFC (edit: double champ era was terrible and killed my interest), that was one of our go-to places because we basically never got told to leave before the fights were over. Everywhere else I have ever been to has kicked us out because they want to close.“
Ultimately, some people will truly miss Hooters in Massachusetts. On top of that, this is also concerning, as many have lost their jobs, which is always sad to see, especially during the hard times the country is going through.
