The Dark Knight first released 10 years ago today. To celebrate this anniversary, the DC film is heading back to four select IMAX theaters for a limited time.

Starting August 24th, the Christopher Nolan classic can be seen in the following locations:

  • AMC Lincoln Square in New York
  • The Ontario Place Cinesphere in Toronto
  • AMC Metreon in San Francisco
  • AMC Citywalk in Universal City, California

Tickets go on sale July 20th and the film will stay in those theaters for one week.

The Dark Knight is regarded by fans and critics alike as one of the best comic book movies of all time. Even though Christopher Nolan did a masterful job as director and Christian Bale put on a great performance as Batman, neither could outshine Heath Ledger’s Joker.

Dark Knight

The late Ledger’s performance as the clown prince of crime was one for the ages. His darker, grittier take on the iconic villain left viewers wanting more after every scene.

Unfortunately, as we know, Ledger passed away a few months before the release of the film but he did win an Oscar (Best Supporting Actor) for his performance. Along with The Joker, The Dark Knightย also introduced us to Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart). Dent would go down a dark path over the course of the story and eventually become Two-Face, a vengeful vigilante who left his victims fate up to a flip of a coin.

Personally, this movie still holds up as one of the all-time greats in its genre and the fact that it has already been 10 years since its initial release doesnโ€™t change that. It does mean that Iโ€™m getting old though.

If you live in the area, are you planning on buying a ticket to revisit this classic? What were your thoughts on The Dark Knight when it first released? Is it the best comic book movie of all time?
