As Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding weekend roared to life in New York City, the most talked-about guest was one who never showed. While A-listers like Selena Gomez, Jack Antonoff, and Lena Dunham filed into the Madison Square Garden area Thursday for the couple’s star-studded rehearsal night, Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds were photographed roughly 300 miles upstate in Lake Placid, cheering at a horse show.
According to photos published by TMZ, the couple spent Thursday at a local farm watching their daughter Betty compete, with the 6-year-old taking second place in her riding event. The sweet family moment carried an unmistakable sting for fans, since Betty is the same daughter whose name Swift immortalized in song on Folklore. Swift has famously woven all of the couple’s kids into her music over the years, a running symbol of one of Hollywood’s most celebrated friendships.
Reports have claimed Lively was left off the guest list entirely as the relationship cooled during the fallout from Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni, which settled in May. Still, nothing is confirmed. There is no evidence that Lively intentionally stayed away on Thursday, no official guest list is publicly available, and, as observers noted, the drive to the city is entirely doable before the main event.
The Leaked Texts Fueling the Blake Lively and Taylor Swift Rift Talk
Adding fuel to it all are the pair’s private messages, unsealed in court documents from the Baldoni litigation. In them, Swift gently confronted her friend, writing that Lively’s recent messages read like “a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees,” and confessing, “I just kinda miss my funny, dark, normal-speaking friend.“
Lively initially met the moment with a joke, replying, “Thank you for your feedback. We at headquarters are reviewing your concerns.” But she followed with sincerity: “But I am sorry. To you.” Notably, the exchange showed the two patching things up, with Swift insisting the whole thing was “also not a big deal.“
Whether it stayed that way is the question hanging over the biggest wedding of the year. All eyes are now on whether Lively makes the drive south before Swift says I do. Until then, a quiet farm in Lake Placid is doing an awful lot of talking.
