Massachusetts Woman Panics After Receiving Republican Campaign Ad Disguised as Eviction Notice: ‘Since When Have MAGA Cared About the Law?’

Lies, deception

A Massachusetts woman says her heart skipped a beat when she received an eviction notice in the mail, from the National Republican Congressional Committee. As to why someone would receive an eviction notice from a political party, the answer is simple: it was a disguised campaign ad. According to the letter’s pictures shared by SadMaryJane on r/mildlyinfuriating, the whole point of this fake eviction letter was to inform people about what they would receive if Democrat leaders were running the country.

Scaring the shit out of people for a brief, flickering moment.

“For a split second thought I might be losing my home,” SadMaryJane recalled when first receiving the letter. “Scaring the life out of people only to beg for money,” she groaned. OP clarified that she briefly felt confused panic more than anything, as she owns her condo and inherited her late father’s house. In other words, an eviction notice wouldn’t make any sense in her current situation.

Still, SadMaryJane expressed her frustration at how predatory this method of political campaigning is, given that there are people who would have been more gullible than she was. “The fake checks they send are by far the worst. I would hate to be elderly this day and age,” she sighed.

Reddit Questions the Legality of This Sort of Political Ad

Thousands of Redditors couldn’t believe their eyes either; many questioned whether this sort of political ad was illegal. “Since when have MAGA cared about the law?” remarked a user in response. “Typical republican tactic. Emotionally predatory and weird,” added another. “Slimey and disgusting. These frigging ghouls,” exclaimed a third.

Plenty of people suggested SadMaryJane send the letter back to force the sender to pay for return postage. Unfortunately, they can only hope for this since OP shared another photo in the comments showing that whoever sent her the letter doesn’t pay for return postage to save money.

In the end, the Massachusetts woman lost nothing except her time reading over the letter itself and her respect for the political party attempting to scam her. While there are plenty of ethical ways to gain voter support, this sort of scam letter objectively doesn’t give the party a good look.
