A California man went viral on TikTok after filming a meltdown over what he described as inconsiderate moviegoers who ruined his viewing of the latest Spider-Man movie. In the video, he complained about two people sitting near him and jokingly argued that their behavior was so disruptive they should be arrested for their “crimes.” The rant quickly gained attention from viewers who said they had experienced similar problems at movie theaters.

The video was uploaded by TikTok user imsteeleb and has since received more than three million views, along with thousands of comments. While the incident itself might sound minor, the large response showed that many viewers had strong opinions about movie theater etiquette.

The California man later made it clear that he actually enjoyed the movie and that his frustration was directed at two other moviegoers. He argued that basic theater etiquette was dead and jokingly referred to the two people as “criminals” and “felonious adults.”

The first person was a man sitting directly in front of him who allegedly kept opening his phone during the movie. According to imsteeleb, the phone’s bright screen repeatedly lit up the area and became especially distracting because he was sitting directly behind him. He claimed the man would do it roughly every 15 minutes. His frustration reached another level when the man unexpectedly stood up during a climactic moment, put on his jacket, and blocked the California man’s view of the screen.

The second person was a woman sitting next to him who was allegedly with her boyfriend. The California man complained that she repeatedly made exaggerated noises, spoke during the movie, and made comments that he found distracting. He also claimed that she took pictures of the movie three times while it was still playing.

California Man’s Theater Rant Wins Support

The video sparked a strong reaction on TikTok, with many viewers siding with imsteeleb and sharing their own experiences with disruptive moviegoers. “Brother, you’re underreacting,” one user wrote.

Phone use was a common complaint. One viewer said the person in front of them was “shopping on Amazon,” while another said someone took a picture every time Spider-Man appeared on screen. Others complained about people recording during movies.

Parents bringing young children also drew criticism, with viewers describing infants crying throughout screenings and one family giving a toddler an iPad at full volume and brightness. Other commenters mentioned people shouting jokes, talking, vaping, eating loudly, making out, arriving late with flashlights, and leaving trash behind.

Some viewers said they regularly tell disruptive patrons to be quiet or put their phones away, while others recommended morning screenings or waiting until theaters become less crowded. One commenter joked that the video should be played before every movie as a warning.

While a few viewers questioned whether the California man’s reaction was justified, the overall response was largely sympathetic, with many agreeing that basic movie theater etiquette has deteriorated.
