A North Carolina woman broke down in tears while recounting her experience at a hair salon in Garner, where she said she spent more than $200 getting a perm. After saving for years to have her hair professionally done, she said she left the salon feeling devastated and with severely damaged hair.

The story, which was posted on TikTok, sparked outrage online, with many netizens rallying behind the woman and condemning the salon for allegedly failing to take accountability.

According to the woman, she visited the salon to get a perm after many years of using black box dye. She said she informed her stylist of the product she had used on her hair and even showed her the box so the stylist could check whether any of the ingredients would interfere with the perm.

She claimed the stylist first performed a curl test on a section at the back of her head and, after that, went ahead with the treatment.

Woman Says Her Hair Was “Completely Fried” After Perm

The woman isn’t sure exactly what went wrong but believes the perm may have been left on for too long. She recalled feeling something was off while the stylist was rinsing the product from her hair and running her fingers through it.

She claimed the extent of the damage became clearer after she left. Describing her hair as “completely fried,” she said she could no longer run her fingers through it without them getting stuck.

What followed only made things worse for her.

The woman said she spent several days trying to resolve the situation privately, contacting both the stylist and the salon in hopes of getting a refund or some help with her damaged hair. According to her, however, her efforts went nowhere.

She claimed the stylist hung up on her after refusing to refund her, saying she had warned beforehand that there was a chance her hair could “melt.” The woman strongly disputed that account, maintaining that no such warning was given before the treatment.

She also claimed several attempts to speak with the salon owner proved unsuccessful.

Woman Returns to Salon for Answers

After waiting five days for a response, the woman eventually went back to the salon herself, but said she still couldn’t get anyone to address the situation. She claimed the owner was not there and another employee told her she couldn’t help because she was with a client.

She said she even encountered her stylist at the salon, who allegedly took one look at her damaged hair and denied being responsible. “I didn’t do that. That wasn’t me,” the stylist allegedly told her.

While fighting back tears, the woman said the experience has been particularly upsetting because she had waited six years to have her hair professionally done again. As a single mother working a minimum-wage job, she said she had worked hard to save enough money for the appointment and had trusted the salon with hair she had spent years trying to keep healthy.

Viewers Rally Behind the Woman

The woman’s video quickly took off online, racking up more than 5 million views on TikTok. In the comments section, many netizens have urged the woman to take further action against the salon and the stylist.

“Omg this woman is a menace and must be stopped,” one person wrote. Another urged, “Girl do NOT let it go.” Someone else suggested, “File a small claims suit against her AND the salon. go through your local county justice of the peace office.”

A lot of viewers also said they were stunned by how the salon had allegedly handled the woman’s complaints. “I’d be devastated!! They did NOT handle this properly. SHAME ON YOU,” one comment read. Another added, “The fact that they didn’t refund AND try to make it right? Thats horrible. I’m sorry.”

Others joked about taking matters into their own hands. “How I would make it my mission to show every woman walking in there my hair,” one commenter said. Another viewer asked, “This salon is literally a mile from me. Do I need to go make a scene?” A third chimed in, “We should all call and schedule appointments for the next month and none of us show up.”

But amid the outrage, several people offered something more useful: help. “Where are u located? I’m a hairstylist of 20+ yrs and would totally help for free love,” one netizen offered. Another wrote, “I’m a salon owner and stylist in Garner, shoot me a message, I’d love to help either with some treatments and potentially extensions!”

As of this writing, neither the salon nor the stylist has publicly responded to the woman’s viral allegations. The woman claimed that instead of responding, the salon blocked her and removed its TikTok videos following her posts.
