Technically, she never asked for anything, but Reddit user EyeThinkEyeCan claims they were in line with her when this lady did something quite peculiar after telling the cashier she didn’t have enough for her $7 purchase.
“The EL (entitled lady) says, ‘I’m a little short.’ But in the most bizarre, matter-of-fact way, like as if this is fine and the dollar store’s/cashier’s responsibility to pay for it,” EyeThinkEyeCan recalled. The difference was apparently $0.50, but the woman kept speaking to the cashier in such a way as though she expected her to cover it. “I am just unfazed but cannot say the same for the patrons behind me,” OP remarked.
Eventually, the lady gave up and returned the nail polish set, which she was missing $0.50 on to cover its cost. All in all, no dramatic argument was had, nor did the young woman cause a scene. She just wanted the dollar store employee to simply cover what she came short on, but the feeling in the air was clear. As OP put it in their r/EntitledPeople post’s title, “[This] entitled lady expected [the] cashier to pay for her items.”
“The confidence was honestly impressive,” chuckled a commenter. “I’m a cashier and the amount of customers that have asked me to cover the difference is astounding,” sighed another. “That’s terrible. If you are short, you put something back, that simple. Never expect someone else to cover for you. Good lord!” exclaimed a third.
A few people in the comments tried to guilt-trip EyeThinkEyeCan into making them regret not helping the woman out with the $0.50. To this, OP responded, “The cashier, myself, all the elderly people in line, and the dollar store are not responsible for supplementing entitled lady’s luxuries.”

They added that it wasn’t about the trivial amount of money she didn’t have to make the purchase; it was about her attitude and entitlement throughout the interaction. “It wasn’t like ‘oh golly gee, I’m short!’ with like real disappointment. It was the ‘so are going pay for this or what?!’ attitude to the cashier that EL had,” EyeThinkEyeCan explained.
While OP might have acted unfazed during the whole ordeal, many probably can’t help but agree that if they were in that dollar store checkout line, they likely would have “felt like second-hand offended for the cashier.”
