Candace Cameron Bure has spent nearly four decades in front of television cameras, but there is one deeply personal criticism the California-born star admits she still cannot shake.
The 50-year-old Full House alum broke down in tears during the latest episode of The Candace Cameron Bure Podcast while revealing that strangers constantly attack something she has absolutely no ability to change: the sound of her voice.
“People always comment how annoying my voice is,” Bure said as she reached for tissues and struggled to contain her emotions.
The actress said the criticism has become so common that she has seen viewers openly announce they stopped watching her simply because they could no longer tolerate hearing her speak.
One particularly brutal comment claimed, “I turned off my TV because her voice is so annoying.”
“It’s a lot,” Bure admitted.
For someone whose career has depended on speaking in front of millions — from playing D.J. Tanner on Full House and Fuller House to hosting her own podcast — the repeated attacks clearly found an insecurity that never completely disappeared.

The response on X quickly showed just how divided people remain over Bure.
“CCB is one of the most true ppl in Hollywood,” one supporter wrote. “She’s beautiful in and out and has nothing to be ashamed over.”
Another defended her faith, writing, “Christians will always be persecuted. She’s a great person with morals.”
Others showed considerably less sympathy.
“Grow a thicker skin,” one X user responded. “I like her, but good Lord, save me from people crying on podcasts and social media.”
Another simply told Bure, “Toughen up buttercup. You shouldn’t care.”
Several harsher critics argued that Bure’s voice is not the real reason she receives backlash, instead pointing to years of controversy surrounding her conservative politics and Christian beliefs.
That divide made Bure’s emotional revelation even more striking.
She explained that the same voice strangers have spent years mocking has taken on an entirely different meaning through her faith. Bure regularly reads Bible passages aloud on social media, where followers have told her, “You make the Bible come alive for me” and, more pointedly, “I love the sound of your voice.”
Bure called the reversal “redemptive.”
After years of hearing that her voice makes people want to turn off the television, the Full House star has found an audience asking her to do exactly the opposite: keep talking.
And judging by the reaction online, Bure may never silence all of her critics. But the voice some people insist is unbearable has become the same one others say strengthens their faith.
