A Florida woman says she became increasingly worried after her new neighbor allegedly showed up at her door without pants, repeatedly rang her doorbell, and asked her to help him get back into his apartment. She said the man appeared to be under the influence and was wearing an ankle monitor. After she contacted police, she said officers took a long time to arrive.
The video was shared by the woman on TikTok under the username @its.monicalynne. The clip of her explaining the situation received several hundred thousand views, with many viewers expressing concern about her safety and questioning the delayed police response.
The woman said the neighbor had moved into the apartment complex only about a week earlier. According to her, he repeatedly came to her door while wearing no pants and asked for her help because he was locked out of his apartment. She said he claimed to have plenty of money and offered to pay her if she helped him, but she refused and contacted police instead.
Because she did not initially believe the situation was an emergency, the Florida woman said she called the non-emergency police number. However, she claimed that officers still had not arrived after a significant amount of time. Meanwhile, the neighbor allegedly returned to her door multiple times, banging on it and ringing the doorbell.
The woman said she was especially uncomfortable because she suspected the man was on drugs and noticed that he was wearing an ankle monitor. She remained inside her apartment while waiting for police and continued documenting what was happening.
The situation later escalated. In an update posted in the comments, the woman said police eventually arrived after the neighbor allegedly got into a fight with another resident downstairs while naked. She added that she believed the confrontation could have been avoided if officers had responded when she first called.
Florida Woman’s Neighbor Sparks Online Concern
The video prompted widespread concern, with many viewers questioning why police had not arrived sooner. The neighbor’s ankle monitor became a major topic of discussion, as commenters suggested contacting his probation or parole officer in addition to reporting the behavior to local police. “Why are the cops not coming?” one user asked.
Many viewers encouraged the Florida woman to save her videos, document every incident, file a police report, and notify the apartment management. Some said having a record of the alleged behavior could be important if the situation continued or if she needed to address safety concerns with her landlord.
Others suggested that the neighbor might need emergency mental health or medical assistance if he was genuinely unable to control his behavior. Some commenters also shared their own experiences with police taking a long time to respond to potentially dangerous situations.
Not everyone agreed with the woman’s decision to initially use the non-emergency number. Some commenters argued that repeated unwanted visits, the alleged behavior, and her concerns about the neighbor should have been treated as an emergency.
Others defended her, saying she had tried to handle the situation appropriately and should not have been expected to deal with the neighbor herself. At least the Florida woman got one thing out of the ordeal: a very good reason to stop answering the door.
