Texas Family Dollar Looting Spree Caught on Camera as Carts of Soda Roll Out the Door: ‘Going to Jail Over Soda Is Crazy’

Retail theft caught on camera is nothing new, but a video from a Texas Family Dollar is getting attention for turning a chaotic store run into an internet meme. The clip shows people loading carts with cases of soda and pushing them out of the store, while a joke about things getting worse plays across the screen.

The video was originally posted on TikTok by @riahslimetoo, who wrote, “this job was not for the weak my sister recorded this but there’s moreee from my store.” It was filmed inside a Family Dollar in Dallas, Texas.

In the footage, a man wearing a dark hoodie and shorts can be seen quickly grabbing cases of Fanta, 7UP, Big Red, and other drinks from displays and placing them into a shopping cart. At least one other person is nearby around the carts and entrance.

The store appears to be open, with the lights on and the doors accessible. However, the people in the video are not seen going to a register or speaking with a cashier. Instead, the loaded carts are pushed straight through the security gates and out into the dark parking lot.

What really caught people’s attention, though, was the caption over the video: “POV: Working at family dollar and the saxophones start getting louder.”

The phrase is part of a meme format used in videos where a situation is clearly spiraling out of control. In this case, the huge amount of soda being pushed out of the store made the caption even more fitting.

Internet Reacts to Texas Family Dollar Video

Commenters quickly filled the replies with jokes, sympathy for retail workers, and arguments about prices. “The fatigue is real,” one person wrote. Another blamed rising costs on Democrats, writing, “And Democrats wanna know why prices are so high!”

Others focused on how much someone could risk over soda. “Going to jail over soda is crazy,” one commenter wrote, while another joked about the selection, asking, “What, no grape soda?” Someone else pointed to the store itself, writing, “The bars on the windows tell you all you need to know lol.”

Some commenters said incidents like this can create an even bigger problem for customers. “The store will be closed and the price will be higher than sky. Then people complain about the prices,” one person wrote.
