‘She Was Never on the Speakers List’: Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene Mocked After Telling Texas GOP Convention to Remove Her Name

That got awkward fast

Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene said she found her name on a GOP convention speakers list in Dallas. She told organizers to remove it because she would not speak at the Texas event. Greene said Republicans had little to campaign on heading into the midterms. She pointed to foreign policy, affordability and unfulfilled party priorities.

The video circulated on X, where Greene described discovering her name on the convention website.

“My name’s on the speakers list,” Greene said. “I found that absolutely hysterically funny.”

She questioned what kind of speech she could give while criticizing the Republican Party’s record under full federal control. Greene first targeted President Donald Trump’s foreign policy and the cost of living.

“What do you campaign on?” she asked.

Greene said housing and grocery costs had not improved. She also criticized gasoline and diesel prices and accused Trump of breaking campaign promises over Iran.

She then turned to Republican social policy. Greene said Senate Republicans had not taken up her bill targeting transgender surgeries and treatments for minors.

The House passed her bill, while the Senate had not acted on it. Greene noted Vice President J.D. Vance sponsored the Senate version before becoming vice president.

After laying out those complaints, Greene returned to the convention and ruled out appearing.

“I can’t imagine what kind of speech I would give,” she said. “So they need to take my name off of the list.”

Greene said her rejection of the convention did not mean she supported Democrats.

“I’m not a Democrat. I don’t support Democrats either,” she said. “But I certainly won’t support President Trump and Republicans when they are not supporting the American people.”

Marjorie Taylor Greene Draws Mockery Over GOP Convention Refusal

The discussion moved beyond Greene’s disputed speaker status, with critics also targeting her political relevance and departure from Congress.

“Guess what? She was never on the speakers list,” one user wrote. Another mocked the idea of Greene addressing a midterm gathering: “True. Why would you have someone who couldn’t win an election give speeches related to winning elections. Yeah, makes no sense. Good point.”

Others focused on Greene’s decision to leave office. “No one cares what you just found out. All we know is that in Georgia, you abandoned us,” one response stated. Another added, “How can we miss you when you won’t go away.”

Not everyone dismissed Greene’s message. One user wrote, “Thank you for standing for Americans. I’m sorry our administration isn’t capable of it.” Another urged her to reconsider: “Maybe you should still speak, just say everything you’ve said in this video and more.”

Greene has ruled out speaking at the Dallas convention as she continues publicly opposing Trump and Republican leadership ahead of the midterms.
