Today was a huge day for PlayStation fans. We got not one, but two State of Play shows, both of which were packed with announcements, deep dives, and even some long-awaited release dates. However, since the show was quite big and not a lot of people had the time to watch it when it aired, we’ve made a list of every major announcement during the State of Play shows of September 2026.
Marvel’s Wolverine Gets Its Launch Trailer
We’re just weeks away from donning the adamantium claws, and to celebrate it, Sony kicked off its State of Play in September 2026 with the launch trailer for Marvel’s Wolverine. While there are many details we saw in previous trailers, we also got to see more characters, a few familiar enemies, and that brutal action we’ll get to experience soon.
Atsu and Jin Return for Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition
We already knew a brand-new expansion for Ghost of Yotei was on the way, but we were not expecting a whole new mode to also be announced. The Most Wanted trailer is a new survival-focused mode, featuring several characters from the single-player adventure. However, the legendary Jin Sakai will also make a comeback. This mode will be part of the complete edition
Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Unveils New Colossal Threats
Capcom has been quite busy this week, showing off some new details of Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, but this new trailer that premiered during the State of Play in September 2026 unveiled new details. It seems we’ll get a time skip, a huge new area to explore with new gimmicks to traverse, and, as expected, several new monsters, some of which have been identified by some expert hunters already.
Metro 2039 Shows Off New Gameplay
Many have been extremely excited to play Metro 2039, and we finally got to take a better look at its gameplay. This lengthy video showcases that iconic atmosphere, as well as the superb gunplay we love from the series. Fortunately, the wait won’t be long, as the game launches on February 4, 2027.
Crimson Desert Reveals Its First DLC With a Launch Date
We all know that Pearl Abyss works extremely fast, pumping out huge updates almost weekly. However, when the DLC was teased, we weren’t expecting it to launch in October of this year. That’s right, Charting the Unknown, the expansion for Crimson Desert, is a few weeks away, and it brings new story content, castle building, sea exploration, diving, and many more things.
Final Fantasy Resonance Gets a Demo
Many might be excited to play as Cloud and the gang, but others, such as ourselves, can’t wait to jump into the first HD-2D Final Fantasy title. Thankfully, we’ll be able to try it out today, as the game just went live, and it will allow you to carry your data over to the full game.
Gundam Rogue Orbit Is The Gundam Game We’ve Been Waiting For
One of the biggest surprises of the State of Play of September 2026 was, undoubtedly, Gundam Rogue Orbit. It’s been a long while since we got a proper Gundam game, and it seems this installment will capture that Gundam feel, while also bringing some engaging combat mechanics, which are pretty similar to those we saw in Armored Core 6.
Until Dawn 2 Unveils New Choices Gameplay
While many of us were already excited after learning Until Dawn 2 was in development, the hype just increased today with the recent trailer. Instead of focusing on the new characters only, we got to see more of that choice-and-consequence gameplay we love, with a few teasers of some avoidable demises and a few not-so-unavoidable ones, it seems.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation Announced Its Release Date
And now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Final Fantasy VII Revelation just got a release date, and it is launching on April 8, 2027. Pre-orders are already up for all editions, including a gorgeous collector’s one. On top of that, Sony and Square Enix unveiled a huge gameplay trailer, featuring the new FIT system, the return of Queen’s Blood, Wutai, and many more.
New Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 Customization Options
Among the best things of the Xenoverse series is the ability to customize your hero as you see fit, and it seems Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 is raising the bar considerably. While short, we got to see many customization options for our characters, as well as several new skills that we’ll be able to learn once this new Dragon Ball adventure begins next year.
Fate/Extra Record
The FATE universe has been quiet for a while, but it seems it is making a huge comeback thanks to XSEED and Marvelous. Fate/Extra Record is making its long-awaited comeback to current platforms, while retaining that strategic combat system we all remember from the 2010 classic.
Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World Is Launching This December
Square Enix has been on a roll lately with Dragon Quest, and now, we’re journeying to the creature-collector spin-off with Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World. It was just a short trailer, but it was more than enough to show off the combat mechanics, the new characters, a bit of exploration, and get hyped with the iconic Dragon Quest theme. Also, this new title is launching this December, meaning the holiday season will be quite busy for Dragon Quest fans.
The First DLC For Digimon Time Stranger Is On Its Way
Last but certainly not least, we have yet another surprise DLC announcement during the State of Play in September 2026, and it is the expansion for Digimon Story Time Stranger. A Hero’s Legacy will give us a new protagonist, new Digimon partners, and over 50 new Digimon to collect as we explore Digiworld: Iliad. There isn’t a release date yet, but we know it is launching next year.
As you can see, these shows were packed with new announcements, with many of these games just being right around the corner. So, if you’re planning to get any of them, remember to get that pre-order ready or add them to your wishlist, because the end of this year and all of 2027 will be packed.
