A customer was recently filmed getting into a heated confrontation with an employee at an AutoZone store in Texas. It is not clear what exactly set him off, but the argument eventually resulted in the customer making remarks that viewers have deemed racist.
In a one-minute video shared by @southernshxt on TikTok, the black customer, wearing a bright pink shirt, red glasses, and patterned pants, argued loudly with the employee in the middle of the store. At several points, the customer stretched his arm out and pointed toward the employee, who responded by knocking his arm away.
The two challenged each other to make a move, but despite the tension, the confrontation never escalated into a physical fight.
The customer demanded to speak to the manager, yelling that he would have the employee terminated from his job. The employee shot back that he was the manager and told him to leave.
The customer, however, refused.
Instead, when he noticed someone was filming, he walked toward the camera and launched into an animated rant about the employee. He hurled several insults at the other man, including calling him a “coward.”
The customer then challenged the employee, asking, “Would you do that in Mexico? Yes or no? Would you do that in Mexico?” He mocked the employee, saying he wouldn’t and claiming that was why he had come to America.
The customer later started leaving the store, though he still seemed determined to have the last word in the argument.
Viewers Slam Texas Customer Over His Behavior
While the person who recorded the video seemed to find humor in it, many netizens in the comments saw it differently. Some found the customer’s actions problematic.
“Customer sounds rude and racist,” another wrote. “Harrasing a man hard at work isn’t funny,” another said. “Its a shame this black guy acts like a child still,” a third added.
Someone else chimed in, “And ppl say whites are the r a c i s t s uhh?” while another stated, “If it was the other way…it would be racism all over the News and protests and boycotts.”
Some viewers also sympathized with the employee. “Feel bad for worker [sic], my old job had the worst customers like this over nothing,” one person shared. Another said angrily, “Leave that young man alone, he’s trying to do his work and make his money.”
The short clip has continued to make its rounds on the internet, with many netizens weighing in on the confrontation. As of this writing, there has been no additional information about what sparked the dispute before the camera started rolling.
