This time, a Florida family is suing Publix after a woman allegedly died from eating E. coli-contaminated frozen blueberries purchased from one of its stores. Her son also reportedly became sick and was hospitalized after eating the same product.
While the woman’s husband has now filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Publix and food distributor Quirch Foods, the story has sparked a much wider debate among Florida residents. Many have turned their attention toward the Republican administration, with some pointing to cuts and changes affecting federal food safety oversight and questioning whether enough is being done to keep potentially dangerous products off store shelves.
The story has already gone viral, with many sites covering it. According to the sources, a family went to purchase GreenWise frozen blueberries from a Publix establishment. However, the aforementioned product was supposed to be recalled in July due to a deadly E. Coli outbreak.
Several sources reported at least 17 cases of illness due to the blueberries, with almost half of them resulting in hospitalization, and now a woman has passed away.
Despite many pointing their fingers at the supermarket, it seems that the majority believe the guilty ones who have led to cases like this one are the Republican Party and Trump’s administration.
For the unaware, Trump cut around 20% of the FDA personnel, which, if you didn’t know, is in charge of inspecting food. This has allegedly led to fewer food inspections, which checks out, as 2025 and 2026 have seen a high number of food recalls.
