Florida State Rep. Angie Nixon, the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, posted what she called her first campaign commercial on X, saying she will choose communities over corporations in the race against Sen. Ashley Moody. The clip frames Florida fights as homeowners versus insurance companies, patients versus drug companies, and families versus corporations. Online users reacted after the Jacksonville Democrat asked supporters to donate and share the ad so it can reach voters she has not met.
The video shows Nixon speaking to camera against a Florida outline as on-screen text reads, “Let’s make this clear.” She lays out matchups of “homeowners vs. insurance companies,” “patients vs. drug companies,” and “families vs. corporations,” with graphics that also say corporations are “buying our neighborhoods” and “driving up” costs.
In the clip, she says, “I’m with the patients,” and the ad closes on the line “every single time,” with a “Vote by Nov. 3rd” tag. The video does not show Sen. Ashley Moody or name her opponent.
In the caption, Nixon wrote, “When it comes to choosing corporations over our communities, I’ll always be with our communities,” and called the spot “our first commercial.” She asked supporters to donate and share so it can reach people she has not met.
In a follow-up post, she pledged, as senator, to “cut costs, fight corruption, and deliver real results.” That message tracks earlier remarks to Action News Jax, when she said she is “not accepting money from corporate PACs” and is taking money only from “regular hardworking everyday people.”
The New York Times has reported that Moody has declined to debate her, saying she will not give “a stage or any attention” to someone she considers “truly anti-American.”
Responses to Nixon’s First Florida Senate Ad
Many viewers praised the spot and urged others to circulate it. “This should have 1M views minimum. This goes so hard,” one user wrote.
Others called it a “banger ad” and said, “We need to get this ad in front of as many people as possible.”
Reporter Ryan Grim wrote that “beating the Democratic machine and doing it without corporate money makes Nixon a much more credible messenger when she says stuff like this.”
Some commenters rejected the corporations-versus-communities framing. “Corporations have done more for communities than politicians ever have,” one wrote. Another asked, “don’t corporations give jobs?”
A third called it a “false choice,” saying that between politicians and corporations, “any sane person will go with corporations.”
It is not yet clear whether the commercial will move the Florida Senate race beyond the discussion it has already drawn. The ad continues to circulate as Nixon and Moody head toward the Nov. 3 election.
