The comments came during a Fox News interview about Republican voters considering sitting out the midterms. Emmer called that possibility “unacceptable” and pointed to immigration enforcement, crime and tax cuts as Republican achievements. He then turned to fuel costs and said, “$4 gas and $6 diesel is unacceptable.”
He blamed the problem on what he described as a mess created by Joe Biden and Democrats. Emmer said Trump and Republicans had spent more than 18 months trying to fix it.
He continued by warning that those frustrations were “enough to vote for a communist, Mike.”

Others focused on Emmer’s explanation for fuel prices. One user asked, “Seriously ? You are still trying to blame Biden ?” before adding, “It’s been 2 years and obviously you can’t fix it.”
Another response reduced the dispute to accountability, arguing, “Only losers blame others for the chaos they created.”
A separate user pressed Emmer for specifics: “If $4 gas and $6 diesel are unacceptable, what is the plan to lower them?” The response added, “Blaming Biden nearly two years after he left office does nothing for drivers.”
The criticism leaves Emmer’s warning tied to a broader dispute over Republican responsibility for current affordability concerns. His remarks did not identify the candidate he described as “a communist.”
