An Arizona nurse calls for better insurance for night-shift workers over alleged health problems. He claims, “Working night-shift is so bad for your health, so why isn’t our health insurance cheaper because we’re more prone to these long-term chronic illnesses?” His TikTok video has over 194,000 views and over 36,000 likes.
The nurse posted the video, claiming that if “you work night-shift, you should have cheaper health insurance.” His reason stems from health problems allegedly associated with long-term night-shift workers. The Arizona man then lists the various illnesses. These start with high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke risk, type 2 diabetes, and insulin resistance.
However, the list doesn’t stop there. The Arizona nurse continues listing other alleged illnesses tied to working nights. These include a few he raises his hand for, like depression and anxiety. He also mentions “reduced immune function and kidney disease risk.” The man claims there are also chances of chronic inflammation, GERD acid reflux, digestive disorders, hormonal disruption, and reproductive problems. He states that night-shift workers have “a shorter overall lifespan. So I guess technically we won’t have to work as long as day shift.” At the end of the video, he adds that, in his experience, night-shift workers get “less sweet treats and pizza parties from management.”
Night-Shift Workers Sound Off On Arizona Nurse’s Comments
His words have hit home to a few night-shift healthcare workers, who claim to be watching while at work. One states, “Watching this while working night shift lol.” Another commenter adds, “Skipping this for my own sanity as someone who’s about to sign a night shift contract ðŸ˜.” A third comment reads, “Seeing this on my overnight shift at 6 am when I haven’t slept since Thursday night 😀.”
Other nurses sound off in the comments, with cheeky responses to being night-shift workers. One suggests, “No, we should just have universal healthcare.” Another asks, “What if I already have much of that before being on night shift, am I just screwed lol?” One commenter says, “I already had half of these issues, so might as well get that extra bank.”
The Arizona nurse has posted multiple videos about his time in healthcare, which can be found on his channel.
