Clients at a California immigration law firm arrived looking for answers after raising concerns regarding the attorney handling their cases. Some say they had paid thousands of dollars for immigration services before learning that the attorney, Joe Luna, was no longer authorised to practice law.
However, the clients, who arrived outside The Luna Firm in Rancho Mirage demanding a response and their documents, ended up in a tense situation.
The video shows several distressed clients confronting people inside the office. The footage has been translated from Spanish. One woman tells the person filming that a firm representative has just threatened to call ICE on them.
The woman recording repeats what she heard, saying, “The lady just told her that she’s going to call ICE.” A Luna Firm representative responds, “Yeah, let’s put it online,” before telling the group to step outside.
The woman recording then points toward the representative and says the office is threatening to call ICE simply because the clients are standing there waiting for answers. Another woman refuses to leave without her documents, saying, “I need my paperwork. I’m not going to leave without my paperwork.”
The representative tells the group to get out and accuses them of taking advantage of the situation. The video ends during the confrontation.
The video was shared on X by @LongTimeHistory. According to the accompanying caption, clients wanted their money back after Luna’s license was suspended. It claims clients were told to keep paying and were not informed that his license had been suspended. One client allegedly said she paid $7,000 as recently as September 14.
According to the State Bar of California’s attorney profile, Joe Alfred Luna is not eligible to practice law in California. It also lists an inactive order dated September 24, 2026, in case 26-PM-30442, along with previous disciplinary matters.
Internet Reacts to California Law Firm’s Alleged ICE Threat
The confrontation drew strong reactions from commenters. One wrote, “I guess they now have a case against their own lawyer. Geez. Seems everyone is corrupt.” Another argued that vulnerable clients were being taken advantage of, writing, “Grifters and outliers thrive on the vulnerable and will do whatever they need to do to put you in a position of hopeless abandon.”
A third commenter reacted to the dispute between Hispanic clients and the firm, writing, “Hispanics turning on each other is not on my bingo card.”
Other commenters focused on possible legal consequences and the alleged ICE threat. One wrote, “In California they can sue the firm it’s a felony in the state for any lawyer to practice without license and also it’s illegal for charging over false promise on fixing their status.” Another described the alleged threat as especially serious, writing, “Weaponizing deportation against your own clients to cover up structural fraud is a monstrous betrayal.”
Meanwhile, the firm’s website still presents itself as an active immigration practice led by Joe Luna offering services such as U visas, K-1 fiancé visas, cancellation of removal, etc.
