A West Virginia youth soccer game went downhill after a man directed racist comments at the players and their parents, even threatening to call ICE on them in the middle of the game. The coach said the man also told one of the 11-year-olds that he needed counselling, prompting the coach to report the incident to the league.
The roughly 15-second video was filmed from the sidelines of a youth soccer game. In the video, you can see some adults sitting in folding chairs, children chasing a ball in the field, and a man in a gray T-shirt and tan cap standing near a man in a purple T-shirt. The videographer yells, “There is a game, buddy.”
To which the man in the purple shirt replies, “Record me all you want. You want me calling ICE.”
According to the Instagram caption posted by @WARRENS_FITNESS, the man had been directing racial slurs at one of the players’ parents and had also been “trash talking” an 11-year-old player. The coach said the man told the child he needed counseling.
The post identified the man as a parent from the 12U Putnam United team. The video itself does not capture the alleged racial slurs or the conversation with the child.
The coach later added that he took action as soon as he learned what happened. “Just so everyone knows, I filed 15 reports to the league. I also sent both of my teams’ parents the information to file a report as well,” he wrote.
He said he immediately involved the board and stressed that he did not ignore the incident. The coach also explained that he was on the other side of the field when it happened and only learned about it after one of his players’ fathers approached him.
The coach also revealed that the man’s daughter apologized for her father’s behavior. “What all of you do not see is this man’s daughter saying ‘I’m sorry my dad yelled at you.’ — extremely heartbreaking,” he wrote.
He said the moment showed him that the girl “has more sense than he does.” He also explained that he shortened the video because he did not want the daughter to appear in it.
Internet Reacts to West Virginia Youth Soccer Confrontation
The video was later reshared on X by @LongTimeHistory. The comments focused largely on the man’s alleged political views and his decision to bring ICE into a youth soccer game. One commenter wrote, “I’m telling you, we don’t hate these MAGA slobs nearly enough. This is why I always tell people to cut them out of their lives. They deserve to be alone with their hatred.”
Another blamed the broader political climate, writing, “Like I said once Trump is in the office, everyone all of sudden got so comfortable to be an *expletive*.”
Other commenters speculated about why the confrontation happened. One wrote, “Parent was pissed off that the Hispanic looking kid was better than his white boy.” Another said, “Trump in power gives all the wannabe Nazis much comfort.”
A fifth commenter focused on the age of the players, writing, “Grown men threatening kids with ice is such a clear tell that they know they can’t win on merit. Like imagine being that fragile.” Another commenter similarly blamed MAGA supporters, writing, “MAGA has created a virus that will take a long time to cure.”
The footage shows only a brief exchange, and the allegations rest on the coach’s account of events in West Virginia.
