The holiday shopping season is slowly creeping in, and one big sale happening right now is Amazon Prime Day. For online shoppers, this is an excellent time to take advantage of some bargains, and while many Americans have started sharing their finds, a few have not been so lucky. One Reddit user recently shared that an item they had been eyeing suddenly jumped by $100 overnight just as Prime Day began.
The unfortunate Reddit user shared their Amazon Prime Day experience, which wasn’t ideal, to say the least. According to the post, this user was planning to purchase a Hitch Mount Cargo Carrier Rack Basket, as you can see in the image. However, you can also see that it has a notification saying that one item in their cart changed its price. Lo and behold, it is that cargo rack that went from $199.99, which is the alleged price it had when Prime Day began, to $299.99. All of that happened overnight.
Strangely enough, this topic went viral on Reddit, as it seems many other users are not too happy with how this sale is handled.
For instance, many have commented that some of the alleged bargains aren’t as good as one may think. The above is a clear example. Others also say that sellers supposedly wait for the sale to begin to change the prices in a way that they don’t lose a lot of money. Yet, that’s just speculation from Redditors.
In any case, many sympathized with the OP’s situation, saying that the Amazon Prime Day sale isn’t that enticing anymore.
Many Americans Think the Amazon Prime Day Sale is a Scam
Judging by the comments, a lot of Americans aren’t happy with how the sale is handling the “bargains” and have heavily criticized it.
“We all know Prime Day is a scam. How many times do we have to learn this lesson, fam?“
“Pretty sure they jack prices up before Prime Day, then lower prices back to normal for it.“
In more lighthearted comments, even one Redditor told OP that they could sell them the cargo rack at a lower price.
“I will sell you that exact cargo carrier right now for $100. I used it once to move across the country, and now it’s sitting in my garage. Please take it off my hands.”
Ultimately, it seems that some people aren’t too excited about buying things during Prime Day, especially when deals don’t always appear to be what shoppers expect. Still, the sale has only just begun, so we’ll have to see whether more genuine bargains emerge as it continues.
