Airport workers in Honolulu, Hawaii, were reportedly searching for a child’s parent after finding the young child wandering alone near a Southwest Airlines baggage drop-off area. A video shows people calling out to find out whether anyone had lost a child.
The incident reportedly happened at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport at night. The footage captures the search, but it does not show how the child was first found or whether they were reunited with their family.
The 34-second video was shared on X by @USADocumented. It shows the busy Southwest bag-drop area, with luggage, check-in kiosks, and workers moving around. At one point, a voice can be heard asking, “Somebody missing a child.” The person filming continues moving through the area as the search carries on.
Later in the clip, someone asks, “Is there anyone missing a child?” Travelers and airport workers can be seen near the baggage counters and luggage piles. The video also shows a worker wearing a yellow safety vest and several people standing near their bags.
The original post says airport workers found the child wandering around without an adult nearby. The footage does not clearly show the child, however. Instead, it captures the surrounding area and the calls for the parent. The account later suggested the location was Honolulu Airport, writing, “It does look like the Honolulu Airport…”.
Internet Reacts to Hawaii Airport Child Video
The video prompted commenters to question how the child ended up alone. “Somebody screwed up. That kid is way too small to be exploring. If something were to happen, you know mom and dad would be suing,” one person wrote. Another noted, “It can happen in the blink of an eye.” A third commenter added, “You can’t believe how often it happens.”
Other commenters blamed the parents for not keeping a closer eye on the child. “The parents had their heads in their phones!!!” one person wrote. Another said, “It’s getting worse for children every day.” One commenter made a reference to the Home Alone movies, writing, “You have never seen Home Alone 1 or 2.”
The post does not include a statement from Southwest Airlines or the airport, and the child’s age, the parent’s identity, and how the situation ended have not been shared.
