Two girls attending a concert in Phoenix, Arizona, said they unexpectedly found themselves babysitting after another woman allegedly handed them her baby so she could join a mosh pit. The girls claimed the mother disappeared into the crowd and did not return to collect her child until the concert was over. However, by then, they had already taken the matter to security.
According to the girls who shared their experience on TikTok, the incident happened during the $uicideboy$’s Grey Day concert. The mom had come with two young children and a male companion. She had a baby, believed to be around 11 months old, strapped to her chest, while the other child was approximately two years old.
The girls claimed the woman was already intoxicated when she arrived and was getting into heated arguments with her companion and other concertgoers. They also recalled watching the woman jump around and climb onto a railing with the younger baby still strapped to her chest. Neither child appeared to have hearing protection, according to their account.
When the performers encouraged the crowd to open a mosh pit, the girls said the woman removed her sleeping child from her carrier, placed the baby in one of the girls’ arms, and asked them to watch over the baby while she joined in. The girls protested, but the woman disappeared into the crowd regardless.
The companion was no help either. He reportedly vanished as well after saying he was going to go look for her. The girls had no choice but to continue looking after the child while waiting for either adult to return. But as the concert neared its end, one of the girls and a couple standing nearby went to find security. The baby was handed over to the authorities.
Mother Returns, Allegedly Tells Security a Different Story
Once the concert ended and the crowd started to leave, the mother finally reappeared. The woman reportedly began demanding that the girl who had stayed behind tell her where her baby was.
The girl, the mother, and the woman’s companion, who had also returned, then made their way to security.
According to the girls, when they were all asked to give their statements, the woman gave security a different account of what had happened. They alleged that the woman denied she had handed the baby to them and instead claimed she had given the child to her companion. They said that when authorities did not immediately hand over the baby, the woman became upset and started yelling.
Meanwhile, the woman’s companion did not stay to help her with the child. He allegedly left the area with the older child. The girls noted that they were not entirely sure whether the man was the children’s father. They explained that he had referred to them as “her kids” rather than “our kids,” so his relationship with the children remains unclear.
The girls said they were allowed to leave after providing their accounts of what happened.
Viewers Slam Arizona Mother, Praise Girls for Looking After Baby
The incident sparked outrage online. Some viewers were shocked that a parent would leave a baby with complete strangers at such a crowded event and criticized the woman harshly. “That mom needs jail that’s insane,” one netizen commented. Another wondered, “Did they WANT that baby kidnapped?”
A third said, “This is actually so freaking sad. That poor baby.” A fourth added, “I would NEVER do this. To think someone just decided to trust a random stranger with there [sic] child to go mosh pit… I would’ve called the cops the moment she left and reported to CPS immediately. Absolutely ridiculous.”
Many were grateful that the baby had ended up with two girls who were willing to look after the child. “I’m so glad she left that baby with you guys. It could have been so much worse! Some people don’t deserve children!” one person wrote. “Shes so lucky you guys actually took care of that baby cause WHY would she give her baby to some random stranger,” another said. Someone else chimed in, “You guys are angels fr.”
As for what came of the incident, the girls said they were never informed whether the baby was eventually returned to the mother or placed in someone else’s care. They could only hope that both children were safe following the ordeal.
