A North Carolina mom warns parents to “be aware” of what they’re posting after what she saw on a school’s social media. According to her, she went to her son’s preschool Facebook page, where she saw something alarming. What she saw prompted her to reach out to another parent with concerns.
Brittani (@basic_brittani) said she was checking out her son’s preschool social media page. She checks in with them frequently to see if they post photos of her son. But while looking, she came across a video that immediately put her on alert. In the video, she said she saw two little boys and a little girl playing rock, paper, scissors. The little girl was wearing a dress and it would lift up while she played the game, showing her bike shorts underneath. Brittani said that the video makes it look like the little girl wasn’t wearing “shorts underneath” and she was concerned about this. What worried her the most is that over 100,000 people saw the video!
Brittani immediately took action, as she knows the mother of the little girl. She screenshotted the video and sent it to the mom. She told the mother, “I think you need to contact the school to have them take it down.” Brittani said the mom freaked out about the video and contacted the school, who immediately removed the video. They apologized to the mom about it, not even realizing their mistake.
What concerned Brittani the most is that people left “disgusting” comments on the video before it was removed. According to her, there were “vile comments from creepy men” and it’s “scary” that parents need to live in a world like this. And now with AI, she’s worried that things are “going to get worse.” Because of this, she’s warning parents to be careful about what they post of their children on social media.
The video immediately sparked reactions from concerned commenters. One commenter shared their personal take: “This is why I signed a document refusing my son’s school to post him on their social media.” Another commenter urged, “Schools need to STOP social media period. Some moms have ran from abusive relationships and move to different states. I just don’t think it’s wise to mix children and the internet in this age.” Another commenter shared Brittani’s sentiment: “This is how the dark web gets images…” Commenters continue to share their diverse opinions on this matter on Brittani’s video.
