It appears that Nintendo is planning on revealing an N64 Classic sometime in the near future. As first reported by Business Insider, the company has recently filed a trademark for the Nintendo 64 controller. You can see the trademarked image down below:

This is notable because Nintendo has done this in the past with the NES Classic that released back in 2016. The platform trademarked a silhouette of an NES controller. That trademarked image was later featured on the box containing the NES controller.

Now, it is very important to note that Nintendo has not officially announced or even hinted at the possibility of a mini-N64. However, seeing as we’ve seen this before, there is a good chance that the N64 Classic will be revealed sometime soon.

If true, the timing of a Nintendo 64 Classic reveal couldn’t be any better. Sony has recently unveiled a PlayStation 1 Classic Edition. It will come with 20 pre-loaded games, two controllers, an HDMI cable, and a USB cable. The PlayStation Classic will release December 3rd, 2018 and will cost $99.

It’s safe to say that the rumored Nintendo console would also be aiming for a holiday 2018 release window along with a $99 price range. Who would have thought that the N64 and PS1 would once again be competing for sales?

As someone who grew up playing the N64, this is some exciting news for sure. The nostalgia factor would be there but what remains to be seen is just what titles will be featured on the miniature console.

We will keep you updated on this story as we get more information.

Would you be interested in a Nintendo 64 Classic? If so, what games would you like to see on it? Let us know in the comments and be sure to follow us here at The Nerd Stash for all of your nerdy news and needs!
