Illinois Governor JB Pritzker criticized U.S. President Donald Trump just ahead of the midterms, sparking backlash on social media. Several seemingly conservative users had harsh words for Pritzker, who is currently facing Republican Darren Bailey in a bid to retain his position as governor of Illinois.
In a recent post on X, Pritzker criticized both Trump and Bailey. He claimed that Trump was “too extreme” for Illinois and argued that the state was “under siege” by the U.S. president. He also criticized his opponent for “rolling the red carpet” out for Trump if he won the race.
This was just one of the many criticisms Pritzker has directed at Trump on social media in recent weeks. For example, the governor recently claimed that Trump “and his oligarchs” were trying to take power away from voters. Back in August, Pritzker accused Trump of being obsessed with him.
Conservative Voters Criticize JB Pritzker
JB Pritzker’s anti-Trump rhetoric did not sit well with conservative-leaning voters on X. One of them responded: “You are the one who is too extreme for our state! How about the highest gas taxes in the nation and up there in the top 5 for property taxes? That is too extreme for me. You are a billionaire hypocrite who has no clue how the common man lives. Please stop blaming Trump!”
Others added: “Our wallets are under siege by you. You aren’t better than Trump, just different.” Another user wrote: “Don’t blame Trump for your failures.”
One person even accused Pritzker of constantly talking about the president: “Hey Pritzker, stop with the Trump, Trump, Trump stuff. I feel like my head will explode if I hear it anymore.”
While most of the comments were fairly negative toward the Illinois governor, a few users still expressed support for his administration. One of them said: “Don’t worry, I’m voting for all Democrats. My friend’s car is in the shop, so I’m picking her up and taking her to her voting place to vote all D’s as well.” Another wrote: “I’m looking forward to your run for President.”
In the race for governor, however, polls indicate that the Democrat is leading by a comfortable margin against Darren Bailey.
