It’s not that uncommon for trainers to see ghostย Pokemon around this time of year. That’s because Pokemon Go! has recently started its Halloween 2018 festivities for all of its players. Well, hold on to your pokeballsย trainers because you’ll soon be able to catch a Gengar!

That’s right future gym leaders! Niantic is giving Gengar his very own special event in Pokemon Go!. It will be hosting a Gengar day on Saturday, November 3rd. This will bring the Shadow Pokemon to a series of raid battles for a limited time.

Pokemon

Just like other events, Gengar day will only be lasting a short while. It will only be going on for three hours on November 3, so make sure you mark those calendars! During that period of time, Gengar will be creeping onto your screen as a raid battle for Pokemon Gyms.

Although these battles require a raid pass to play, five of them will be availableย for free at a nearby gym to help participants. However, there’s more to this event than just a basic Gengar.

Trainers will be able to capture a Shiny Gengar that will spawn quite frequently at Gyms during the event. Niantic wants players to keep their eyes open because you may not be able to tell a Shiny Gengar from a normal one so easily.

However, Gengar’s Shiny form is only subtly different from its normal form. But don’t let that stop you because it’s still worth it in the end. Especially, if you’re planning on picking up Let’s Go Pikachu or Let’s Go Eevee for Nintendo Switch next month.ย

If you’re able to catch a Gengar or a Shiny Gengar you’ll definitely want to bring it over to the Switch. Mostly, because Gengar is one of the select few Pokemon that can Mega Evolve!ย

Here are the hours for the Pokemon Go! event based on your region:

America, Greenlands

  • Pacific Time: 11 AM to 2 PM
  • Eastern Time: 2 PM to 5 PM

Asia-Pacific

  • 12 PM – 3 PM JST

Europe, Middle East, and Africa

  • 9 AM to 12 PM UTC
