Dragon Ball Super, the highly anticipated upcoming animated series based in the Dragon Ball universe, is set to receive a manga adaption in the coming months. According to the latest issue of V-Jump, the manga version of Dragon Ball Super will be a straight adaptation of the animated series.

The fact that the series is primarily set to be a television show and a manga adaption second is a contrast to the previous Dragon Ball iterations, which were made first as a manga and then adapted into a television show, with Dragon Ball Z being made for television at the same time that the manga was being produced.

Aside from video games and some once off movies, Dragon Ball Super is the newest installment in the Dragon Ball franchise to debut in nearly 20 years, and is set to debut in Japan this July, although it is unclear as to when an English version of the show will be released. Since the show was announced, it has been met with excitement from fans across the world.

Dragon Ball Super is set to take place not long after the defeat of Majin Buu, although it will take place before the events of Dragon Ball GT, which aired from 1996 to 1997. As of yet, it is unclear as to what the storyline for the series will be, and whether or not Uub, the ‘good’ reincarnation of Buu who Goku took under his wing at the end of the series will feature in it; Goku and the rest of the main cast from Dragon Ball Z are confirmed to be returning.

The manga adaption for Dragon Ball Super is set to be released this coming August and will premiere in that month’s issue of V-Jump. What do you think and are you a fan? Let us know in the comments!
