Konami and Kojima’s seminal horror demo PT has been remade by a fan for PC. Entitled Unreal PT, developer RadiusGordello recreated the original Silent Hills teaser and added VR support for a whole new experience. The remake has been in development since early 2018 but was just recently made available to the public.
The remake preserves just about every aspect of the original teaser. Only a few small changes were made that allow the ending to come easier and with less chance. The importance of this remake cannot be understated after the events that transpired after PT or Playable Teaser was made available on PS4.
In 2014, a mysterious demo for an upcoming horror game was announced for the PlayStation 4. It was entitled PT and took the internet by storm with its obtuse puzzles and creepy atmosphere. The internet worked together to figure out how to complete the demo, only to be treated to the reveal that it was a demo for an upcoming Silent Hills reboot from Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro starring The Walking Dead lead, Norman Reedus. This moment in gaming was a seminal turning point for what a demo could be, but it didn’t have a happy ending.
After Kojima and Konami had a falling out, Silent Hills was canceled and the product was scrapped. PT was quickly removed from the PlayStation Store making it only available to those who had already downloaded it. This remake should allow those who never got to experience the legendary demo while putting a whole new spin on the horror game with it being available in VR.
Unreal PT is currently still available but who knows for how long. Konami has been known to shut down remakes of the game in the past so fans should try to download it as soon as possible if they can. You can download Unreal PT here.
