Talks Machina celebrated 100 episodes this week. This weekly talk show has been streamed on Twitch and Project Alpha for two years now. It covers the previous episode of the Dungeons and Dragons live stream showย Critical Role and is a love letter to the fans.
To commemorate this achievement, the entire cast of Critical Role attended the episode. Even Ashley Johnson made an appearance, flying in from filming Blindspot in New York City. Everyone was dressed their best, and there were balloons decorating the set. Fans had been asking for more cameras that show the crew working behind the scenes. So during this 100th episode, each member of the crew got on camera. It was done as a running gag, with the crew not actually doing any work. One was reading a book, another was practicing with a sword, and another was rapping in a sound booth.
Praise was given to the Talk Machina host, Brian W. Foster. Foster also attends conventions with the cast of Critical Role as the MC, facilitating the show, introducing the cast, and coordinating attendees that ask questions. Foster is also the host of the show Between the Sheets, which interviews storytellers. He also made an appearance in All Work, No Play, making cocktails for the cast. Both Between the Sheets and All Work, No Play fall under the umbrella of Critical Role.
Talks Machina has always been about giving the fans what they want. From answering questions about the latest episode of Critical Role to giving away prizes for fanart and gif of the week. It was announced that going forward, Talks Machina would no longer stream on the Geek and Sundry platform but instead but on the Critical Role platform exclusively. And, temporarily, the “after dark” portion of the show would be suspended since the parting. But it was promised new content would come in its place very soon.
