A third Bill & Ted movie has been a long time coming. The second film, Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey was released way back in 1991, a time when many of you probably weren’t even born. Rumors of a final part in the trilogy have been flying around ever since. Fast forward to this decade though and right at the start of it in 2010 Keanu Reeves indicated that a script was being worked on, however, it wasn’t until 2018 that the third film was officially announced.
Not much information had been given, until now, we finally have a release date as well as the official title. Bill & Ted Face the Music will be released on August 21, 2020, starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. Take a look at the official synopsis for the film:
“Following 1989’s Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and 1991’s Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, the stakes are higher than ever for William Bill S. Esq. (Winter) and Theodore “Ted” Logan (Reeves). Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, with a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends, and a few music legends.”
One character who won’t be able to return, as he was, is Rufus as unfortunately actor George Carlin died in 2008. Rufus was quite an important part of the story and he will be missed. As the synopsis says we will see some returning characters, obviously Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter will be returning as the title characters, as for who else will return we’ll have to wait and see. The only other name listed on IMDB is William Sadler who looks set to reprise his role as the Grim Reaper from Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey.
