Team17, the games label, creative partner, and developer announced this week a partnership with video game development studio Moi Rai Games. As a result, Monster Sanctuary will now join the award-winning Team17 games label. You can check out a trailer for the Metroidvania-style monster collecting game below.

Monster Sanctuary - Partnership Trailer

In Monster Sanctuary, players will collect, train, and battle monsters in a retro pixel art style world. The premise sounds like Metroid meets Pokemon, and as you can see from the trailer above, it looks absolutely charming. Every monster has a unique skill tree, so there is a degree of growth and customization. Abilities that let you cut down vines, smash down walls and glide over gaps are just a few that make collecting different monsters essential to surviving in this epic adventure.

You may remember Monster Sanctuary from its successfully Kickstarter campaign last year. and it will be finally heading to Steam early access sometime this year. In the meantime, if you are curious, there is a demo available on Steam for anyone to check out.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Monster Sanctuary to the Team17 Games Label. Moi Rai Games have created an amazing game which already has a passionate community behind it. It’s a really compelling experience for gamers of all ages and we’re excited to be helping Moi Rai to realize their vision.” ~ Debbie Bestwick MBE, CEO, Team17 Group PLC

“We are delighted to be able to work with a publisher as prestigious and passionate as Team17. From classics like Worms to newer indie hits like The Escapists – we are happy to see Monster Sanctuary join the Team17 line-up. Thanks to Team17, we are able to focus, improve and add a level of polish to our game that we never dreamt of when we first started developing it in our free time. We are confident that together we will deliver the best possible version of Monster Sanctuary.” ~ Denis Sinner, Founder of Moi Rai Games
