Chameleon Games, an indie developer that is working with former members of Rare Ltd (who somehow has nothing to do with Yooka-Laylee, the game developed by former members of Rare that starred a Chameleon) has announced a new 3D action-adventure game called Tamarin. You can see the announcement trailer down below:

Tamarin Announcement Trailer

Tamarin is a third-person action-adventure game set in a world of Nordic-inspired scenery. It stars what the developers call “the world’s cutest monkey”. And honestly based on screenshots, I can’t really argue with them. As this monkey, you will explore a 3D world that will purportedly combine elements of classic 3D platformer games and more modern Metroidvania shooters. Players will chase mysterious electrical fireflies, unlock the secrets of an underground world of dancing ants, rescue innocent birds, and restore the tamarins’ once idyllic natural habitat.

Tamarin’s director has brought together some truly great talent. This includes artist Richard Vaucher, who worked on Donkey Kong Country 64, and Graeme Norgate. Norgate’s credits include Goldeneye 007. In addition, the legendary David Wise is working as the composer.  He is has a prolific history having created the soundtracks for many of Rare’s classic games.

“A lot of species are going extinct and their natural habitat is being lost and I’ve always wished to make a game series inspired by the most wonderful species and scenery on Earth. Tamarin combines cute characters, beautiful locations, a catchy soundtrack and a combination of fun exploratory platforming and action shooter gameplay into something that appeals to a wide multi-gender demographic.” Omar Sawi, Founder of Chameleon Games.”

Tamarin will be available on the PlayStation Store and Steam for $29.99. Those interested can also check out the Deluxe Edition that includes the soundtrack and will be $39.99.

If you pre-order now on the official Tamarin website, you can take advantage of several bonuses. These include 10% off, free wallpapers, and an mp3 of one of the tracks from the soundtrack.
