Kingdom Hearts 3’s huge “ReMind” DLC content update is on the horizon after being unveiled in Tokyo last night at the Kingdom Hearts Orchestra performance.
According to those in attendance, game director Tetsuya Nomura went on stage to talk about some of the details. Nomura teased more content coming some months back with this being the first real info given.
The ReMind DLC will feature a new additional scenario, secret, and limited episodes with bosses for each. There will also be free content coming in the form of a Keyblade along with a new form.
The most recent free update arrived on Tuesday in the form of the punishing Critical Mode difficulty setting, as well as some other small tweaks.
The Waiting Game Begins
Kingdom Hearts rivals Street Fighter on how many re-releases of one title it does with the Final Mixes. The upcoming DLC is seen as a type of Final Mix, which in previous games brought a mix of new content and changes to the overall game.
Nomura has stated his team is going take a different approach to Final Mix with KH3. They will instead keep updating it with new content and gameplay tweaks to make it more “fun and challenging”. Then, perhaps a proper final edition of the game will come out in stores.
There is no set date as of now for the DLC’s release. If luck is on player’s sides, it won’t take another 13 years as KH3 did.
It feels like everyone who played the original is like 80 now. Elderly home patrons are going to be filled with more questions of if the DLC is out than if their grandkids came to visit.
Kingdom Hearts 3 released on Jan. 29th earlier this year for Playstation 4 and Xbox One. On top of being the best-selling title that month, it shipped 5 million units (according to publisher Square Enix). The game typically got a positive critical reception upon its release with an 83 Metacritic rating.
