Rumors of a Dead Space remake have made their way across the internet for years now. However, there might be some truth to the whispers now. EA Motive has been working on reviving a classic series, and all evidence points to the much-loved horror sci-fi series. The new details surrounding the remake come from a recent report from GamesBeat. James Grubb announced that the Dead Space remake is actually in the works, “Motive is rebooting the franchise with a full-fledged remake.” And fans will hear about it during the next EA Play later this month.
Grubb’s report on the Dead Space remake announced that EA Motive has been highly inspired by Capcom and the recent Resident Evil remakes. While the original game will provide a “strong foundation” for the remake, players can expect updated graphics and new gameplay mechanics.
So, according to Grubb, fans can thank Capcom for the potential remake, “And speaking of Capcom, it is likely a major reason a new Dead Space is happening. While EA has let its horror franchise wither, the Resident Evil series is larger than ever. And Capcom has provided an easy blueprint for EA to follow.”
Dead Space was originally released in October 2008. Dead Space 2 followed in 2011, and Dead Space 3 completed the trilogy in 2013. An idea of a fourth game with a female protagonist and an open-world map was thrown around, but it never came to fruition.
Hopefully, the Dead Space remake will be announced during the EA Play Live digital showcase scheduled for July 22. For details on how to watch, check out all the details here.
