It’s no news that artificial intelligence is becoming a widespread phenomenon, but it seems a line has been crossed. A gay A.I. robot recently spotted roaming the streets of Los Angeles, California, has become the talk of the town. The unusual humanoid has sparked criticism over how AI is now gendered. In a video posted on X, the robot is seen confronting citizens at various locations and putting on a show. The machine wears a cowboy hat, and pride flags are attached to its elbows and pelvic region.
Visible on its chest was a banner inscribed “RIZZBOT,” alongside another sign that read “Not Elon’s B**ch.” The bot faced a group of individuals, just staring at them, and broke into a song after one bystander spoke to it.
Another scene showed the machine crossing traffic, just like a human. At first, it walked, before breaking into a run, leaving the onlooker filming it in shock. Elsewhere in the video, the robot was interacting with another man.
Although the machine and the man’s conversation weren’t heard, the man appeared to be creeped out by the humanoid as he walked away from it. Before the clip ends, the machine entertained bystanders, even waving goodbyes at them.
In no time, social media users expressed shock at how the concept of sexual orientation is now attributed to even AI. One netizen wrote, “Great- what’s next a ‘trans -robot’ ?”A second netizen who was confused about the concept began asking questions.
The netizen asked, “Can robots be gay? Do they even have genders?” Another user replied, “They’re turning the robots gay.” One observer condemned the creation, calling it an “abomination.”
This social media enthusiast raised concerns about how similar the machine looked to a child. The netizen remarked, “My concern is that it’s child-sized. It’s giving them everything they want. Gross.”
Comparisons between the robot and a child are not far-fetched as the AI measures 4 feet and weighs 77 pounds. The machine is a Unitree G1 Humanoid agent Al avatar. Per USA Today‘s report, it features “between 23 to 43 joint motors, allowing it to move its limbs, torso, and head similar to that of a human.”
Adding to its almost human characteristics, the avatar is equipped with a “depth camera and spatial sensor, allowing it to see its environment.” It is primarily used for demanding performance tasks, such as gaming and video editing, given that an 8-core CPU powers it.
With the way AI is going, who knows what other surprising robots might appear next on the street?
