Today, BioWare has announced that Mass Effect Legendary Edition will release for PS4,
Meanwhile here at BioWare, a veteran team has been hard at work envisioning the next chapter of the Mass Effect universe. We are in early stages on the project and can’t say any more just yet, but we’re looking forward to sharing our vision for where we’ll be going next.”
Mass Effect was first released in 2007 and instantly met with both commercial successes and universal acclaim. Their latest release, Mass Effect: Andromeda, unfortunately, received mixed reviews from fans and critics alike. Kotaku reported that the team had problems working on Andromeda using EA’s in-house Frostbite Engine. Developed by the Battlefield developer DICE, Andromeda development team members said that Frostbite handles specific stuff extremely well but wasn’t properly made for RPG titles. The team ended up having to design many basic gameplay functions including party members management, an inventory system, and their biggest downfall, the animation rig. “It’s been painful. The pain started with Dragon Age: Inquisition and continued on with Andromeda as well,” said a developer. Currently, it is not known whether the new Mass Effect game will continue being made with Frostbite as well or not.
Although BioWare didn’t say much about what are they working on right now, I think it’s safe to say next year we will hear something good about the project. What are your hopes and dreams for the new Mass Effect game? Tell me in the comments below.
