A Person in Colorado Vandalizes a Car by Drawing Swastikas on It: ‘I’d Say Time for a Ring Cam’

That’s a big no

I think many people disagree with a lot of neo-Nazi ideas. However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t several individuals who follow such radical ideas today. For example, a person in Colorado vandalized a car by drawing three swastikas on very specific stickers. It seems harmless, which is why the car owner didn’t want to take action at first.

AIO (or Am I Under Reacting) I May Have Been Mildly Hate Crimed?

Redditor Different-Low-408 shared a case on r/AmIOverreacting where they are exaggerating or even wondering if they should be more alarmed. The reason is that one day, OP left their apartment complex in Colorado and found a note on their windshield saying that someone had drawn three swastikas on their car. Fortunately, the “doodles” were only on the stickers and not on the paint of the vehicle itself. This was the main reason why OP did nothing about it. They also thought that it was the work of some teenagers, who left the note because they felt bad about it.

However, many of the comments asked OP to take action, as it wasn’t just a case of some stickers being ruined. It seemed more like a hate crime, as the stickers were about equality and respecting people of color and women. Redditors agreed that OP was underreacting by not seeing the bigger picture, that someone was targeting those communities on purpose. Therefore, users insisted that OP must go to the police to file a report and provide them with information if they need it in the future.

‘Yeah, I’d say time for a ring cam, or some other camera. If someone messes with your property at home, then it’s nice to have evidence and know who did it‘ said Planetdiane.

OP excused themself by saying that they are very white and that it would be an exaggeration to say that this case was a hate crime. Yet, in comments, OP added that they are disabled. This leads many to believe strongly that they could also be targeting them. Fortunately, users managed to convince OP not to take the incident too seriously. So OP announced that they are working with their apartment complex to investigate the incident. Although they can’t obtain images, as there are no cameras installed. OP also went to the police to file a report. Additionally, OP mentioned that they are practicing shooting in case they need to protect themselves.
