I really enjoyed the Saints Row series of games over the last few generations of consoles. While the first Saints Row was an interesting experiment, the subsequent games took full advantage of the potential the series had for crazy and hilarious fun. After the release of Saints Row 4, and the middling Gat out of Hell DLC, the series went quiet, save for the Agents of Mayhem pseudo-spinoff, which was a sales and critical flop by developer Volition’s expectations. The world has gone too long without a new Saints Row game, and if recent developments are anything to go by, we might be getting something akin to a Saints Row reboot at Gamescom 2021.
The rumor mill started churning earlier today with a tweet from none other than Geoff Keighley himself, who hosts Gamescom 2021’s Opening Night Live segment, with particular attention being paid to the use of the word ‘bossing’ in the tweet. Fans of Saints Row will already know that it relates to the player character who, since the second game, has been the boss of the Third Street Saints. The tweet also came with a teaser image, which Volition also used on the Saints Row homepage. The image features the logo of the Third Street Saints, the fleur-de-lis, and ‘rebooting’ scrawled out in graffiti. Now, you don’t exactly have to be a genius to put that together.
5 days until @gamescom #OpeningNightLive on Wednesday.
