Robert Eggers continues to get big names for his Nosferatu remake as he grabs Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Deadline has reported. Joining him includes Simon McBurney (The Pale Blue Eye) and Ralph Ineson (The Witch). They all will join the previously joined cast with Nicholas Hoult, Bill Skarsgård, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, and Emma Corrin.
Roles for Aaron Taylor-Johnson and the other newcomers for the Nosferatu remake are currently unknown. The plot will follow a woman in 19th century Germany (Depp) stalked by a vampire (Skarsgård).
The director will also be writing the film. He will produce with Jeff Robinov, John Graham, Chris Columbus, and Eleanor Columbus.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson joins Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu remake
The reimagining of the 1922 silent film has been in the sights of the director for years, as it was first reported in 2017. Anya Taylor-Joy was set to reunite with the filmmaker as she made her feature-length acting debut in his directorial debut, The Witch. She rejoined him in last year’s The Northman. Due to scheduling, she had to make her exit. Harry Styles was also going to play the vampire at some point but left the project.
The director has been known to work with new actors on his projects but often gets familiar faces to team up with him again. While Aaron Taylor-Johnson joins the rest of the cast for their first film with the director for Nosferatu, some people know what to expect. Ineson was in The Witch and The Northman. Dafoe starred in The Lighthouse and The Northman.
Adding Nosferatu to his schedule, Aaron Taylor-Johnson will make a busy calendar busier. Later this year, he will lead in Sony’s villainous movie, Kraven the Hunter. He will reunite with Bullet Train director David Leitch for The Fall Guy. The actor is also gearing up for Rothko, which will be directed by his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson.
