A woman driving through a residential neighborhood in Arlington Heights, California, recently captured disturbing footage of a man walking his dog while appearing to treat the animal roughly and aggressively. The video shows the man, who was wearing headphones and holding a beverage, repeatedly pulling on the dog’s leash harshly as they moved along the sidewalk.
In one instance, when the dog hesitated and refused to continue walking, the man yanked the leash with so much force that it briefly lifted the animal off the ground. After that, the dog began dragging its hind legs and scooting along the pavement in resistance. The man did not appear to be concerned at first and continued to drag the dog forward in that condition. However, it eventually reached a point where the dog came to a complete stop and refused to move at all.
Not appearing to be gentle, the man walked back toward the dog and grabbed it by the collar. He lifted the dog until it was standing on its hind legs and brought his face close to the dog’s for a few seconds, as though he was attempting to speak to it before setting it down again.
He Notices He Is Being Filmed
After the man released the dog’s collar, he continued to drag it forward by the leash. It wasn’t until he noticed the woman following them at a distance was filming from inside her car that he finally paused on the sidewalk. In response, he raised his hand and directed a rude gesture with his middle finger toward her. He then began walking in the direction of her vehicle, still holding the leash, as if to confront her, at which point the video abruptly cut off.
According to social media user @joey_tuccio, who later reposted the footage on X after the original driver shared it with him, the woman said she did not feel safe stepping out of her car to intervene because she was alone and feared that her personal safety could be compromised if the situation escalated further.
The same poster also shared additional context from the woman on Instagram, where she explained that she had attempted to intervene verbally by offering the man money in hopes of persuading him to give up the dog. However, she said he appeared intoxicated and became defensive, which discouraged her from pressing further. She continued following him briefly in an effort to determine where he lived, but he eventually entered a nearby church building and disappeared from view.
The woman later contacted the church, and a worker there told her that the man had been seen around the area before and had reportedly shown up with different dogs on separate occasions. She also said she called both 911 and the LAPD, but claimed that her calls were either rerouted or did not result in any direct intervention regarding the incident.

Since the video became public, many netizens have been trying to identify the man and have left comments saying that they were concerned for the dog’s safety. One person wrote, “My anxiety went to the roof, i just cant 😢.” Another commenter observed, “That dog is petrified of him. If he abuses him like that in public, imagine what he does to this poor creature behind doors.” Someone else added, “I hope someone finds this monster. This poor pup.”
Several viewers questioned why the man should even get to keep a dog, with one comment reading, “Why have a dog if you are the animal ?” Another said, “He does NOT deserve to have the PRIVILEGE of having an animal.”
