Having a major egg shortage at her friend’s house, and expecting to bake a fresh batch of cookies, a woman in Houston, Texas, went over to a neighbor’s house to ask for them. She didn’t know it at the time, but she ended up making a friend for life.
The story was shared by TikTok user lifeofcharissae (Charissa). She detailed how her intention of baking cookies was cut short by her friend not having any eggs. Feeling mortified by the lack of protein, she decided to ask a neighbor for two eggs. Her friend, however, had never even said a word to his neighbors, so she was going blind to the neighbor encounter.
She did go to her friend’s neighbor, but things appeared awkward at first. After all, the Texas woman had a stranger at her doorstep for an unknown reason. She was suspicious of Charissa, but it all changed when she finally told her why she was there.
“I am so sorry to bother you, but I am making cookies in the house right there,” Charissa said. “It’s my friend’s house. And I was wondering if I could have two eggs.”
The woman’s suspicious nature went away immediately and, as per Charissa, her “whole face lit up.”
“You’re asking me for eggs? This is like the 1990s,” the woman said, smiling and ecstatic. She then went inside and grabbed four eggs, and gave them to Charissa. “I gave you four, just in case! You need a cup of sugar? Come back over!” the woman added.
Friends For Life, Reactions
From that moment on, every time Charissa visited her friend, she would also visit the egg neighbor. She would wave at her, knowing that they bonded over eggs, effectively making them friends for life.
