After Husband Leaves, North Dakota Mother Says She’s Better Off, ‘I was the one who always shoveled the snow’

“Freeloaders” we call them

If you’re married with kids, contributing nothing but a paycheck really isn’t much of a contribution at all. Are you spending time with your kids? What about your partner? How about helping with chores? In a relationship, you have to pull your weight — and apparently one husband in North Dakota didn’t get the memo. When he took off, leaving his wife and kids, the mother of his kids actually didn’t feel much of a difference. It turns out he was all but dead weight.

TikToker FairyMamaGigi — Gigi, for short — shares numerous videos of her doing chores around the house, each video cataloging another day her husband “abandoned” her and their kids. Today’s chore was shoveling a good bit of snow left behind after a “very mild blizzard” in North Dakota. “Now I’m shoveling all the snow,” Gigi says.

Surprisingly, the shoveling doesn’t put her in bad spirits. She reveals that some ask her if she misses her husband at all since he took off. Gigi flat out says, “I really don’t.” In fact, it was just another day for her because as she puts it: “I would’ve had to do this whether he’d been here or not. I was always the one who shoveled the snow,” in addition to all the “hard jobs.”

These aren’t just random remarks against her terrible husband. According to Gigi in a follow-up TikTok video, she makes it clear her husband wasn’t contributing much of anything, other than a paycheck. She even self-describes as a “single married mom,” which confused one commenter. She explains by saying “Imagine being a single mom but having a man under your roof,” and that man wouldn’t even bother caring for himself.

“You work so hard. You have a peace of mind so it’s better without that man you had!!” said one of the top comments. If he wasn’t contributing much, it’s definitely a net positive.

Another person was happy to hear Gigi wasn’t too beat up about her husband taking off. “Sending lots of love and hugs and prayers for you and your children,” the commenter then added.

Ending on an even happier note, Gigi breathes a sigh of relief knowing she doesn’t have to shovel the snow from her son’s vehicle. He told her he’d do that. “He’s more responsible than the man that left,” so it seems Gigi’s good traits are rubbing off onto her kids.
