Afterparty, one of 2019’s best indie games, is releasing for the Nintendo Switch in March. Venture to Hell and attempt to outsmart and outdrink the father of lies.
The game is developed by independent studio Night School Studio. Afterparty is a simulator adventure game where players must outdrink Satan in order to escape the infernal pits that are the underworld. Night School Studio, which began in 2014, is also the team behind Oxenfree, a supernatural thriller that includes teenagers dealing with ghosts.
In Afterparty, you are Milo and Lola, recently deceased best buds who suddenly find themselves staring down an eternity in Hell. But there’s a loophole: outdrink Satan and he’ll grant you re-entry to Earth.”
Afterparty features a highly engaging conversation mechanic that determines how the two protagonists interact with other denizens of the bar. Each choice changes the outcome of specific encounters, and each decision can alter the game.
It’s time to put “Best Friends Forever” to the test with Afterparty on the Nintendo Switch!”
By speaking with other individuals, the two learn how they ended up in Hell in the first place and can use new knowledge to gain the upper hand over Satan.
The studio released a short trailer showing the indie game running on Nintendo’s console.
