It seems that Age of Empires II is bringing Microsoft’s own Real Time Strategy game franchise to Xbox consoles. PEGI, the Pan European Game Information board has officially rated the game for not only Xbox Series X|S, but Xbox One as well.
The date of this confirmation is not a coincidence, as today Microsoft is also celebrating the 25th anniversary of the franchise. A dedicated broadcast will take place today at 1 PM Eastern Time. The official announcement of the game along with all the details should be released in the next few hours.
Age of Empires II Definitive Edition made its way onto PC almost three years ago and was made by Forgotten Empires. The game was well received and RTS fans were very happy with the return of the beloved franchise.
Age of Empires II Definitive Edition
Age of Empires II Definitive Edition was received well because it offered a ton of content with players easily putting hundreds of hours into the game’s campaigns. The AI was improved throughout the entire game, making fights even more entertaining. But that was second to the visual and audio improvements that brought massive improvements without losing the original’s flair. The game was priced so well that it was pretty much a no-brainer for most Age of Empires II fans.
The game continued to be updated after launch, and the developers even added a new Battle Royale mode to the game on its first anniversary. Now that Age of Empires II is coming to Xbox, the biggest question is probably how the controls will work. Because strategy games have always been played on PCs with a mouse and keyboard. According to the well-known leaker The Snitch, the game will be coming out on consoles next year. But that will be confirmed soon enough.
